what is he?
I did not get a good photo of him in flight. He waited until I left to get another CF card to fly, smile.
I thought he was an Osprey, but from my book he appears to be a
young Eagle. RTH ???
Thanks, ginger
This is a hawk hunting. A diff rd, Pitt St Bridge, but same marsh as where this bird here was hanging out. This flying bird is very soft, no pixels, no details. But I am impressed by the wing spread.

It is a composite photo. I personally did not get a duck that good. For those who want to know, he was shooting with a Nikon. I had a 400mm lens on my Canon, and he had a shorter lens on his camera. In my slim defense, I did not know that "shooting ducks was like SHOOTING ducks!

afternoon walk
to find ducks.
the tree was kind
of a surprise.
(I used to go to the mountains,
and I would look for a tree like
this in the fall of the year.
Never found one I liked much. So
here, in February, on a piece
of land in the middle of a river,
I find my red tree. I like this.)
It doesn't look like spring bloom,
I have no idea what this is.

She say, "Go South Man", go where
the warm breezes blow. I am south, at Pitt Street Bridge in
Mount Pleasant, SC. Best address
for birds in the Charleston area.
And the warm breezes, HUH, they are
blowing a gale! Can't be warm when
the wind done blowed the sun away!

ginger (what happened?)
It showed up, thank you!!!
I have now replaced it 4 times. Added a few comments. I have dumped my cash (cache, I dumped my cash a long time ago, smile. Just noticed the "spelling" error.) again today, restarted my computer, waited for a very slow smugmug to let me sign in again today.

Hi, you all. Honest, I am going out today, monday, to shoot. Plan to leave about 8 AM and look for ducks. who knows what we find. It might be cloudy, if that is so, I might go ahead and leave a bit later.
But I will shoot (something)!!

miles I walked
for Thursday (still
recovering and bad
dull weather) This
was Monday towards
the end of our
"forced" march.
And I have spent
hours tonight worrying
over this photo: the
crop, the color, cloning
a bad branch.
So, here he is,
for better or worse.

(I love those red things
on that and a few other
trees in that area)Thusie, I'se a sad, sad heron.
The pretty lady with the white guns, she told me to to go
North, and I would see you.
I went north to the other side
of the creek. I don't see you!
I'se so scared. The grass it
helps with the North wind, but
I want to go home.
That lady, she sure is pretty,
but she scares me!!! And she
lied to me, telling me you were
North. Now I'm North, and I is lost!!!

I did take photos today, but I felt it was urgent that I deliver this message from the Great Blue Heron. Since yesterday, when I took this photo, he has moved northeast, and I feel his sense of direction may be lacking.

I have been without a computer
for the last few days.
After trying for months to fix
it myself, I gave it to people
who know that stuff........so
that I could install things again.
I installed the beta version
of Photoshop CS3. I think it
is wonderful. It has only been
on my computer for a few hours,
and I need a book to tell me how to use it, but other than that,
I love it. I worked this and some other shots up with it.

I just have to say that this was simply
worked up. There were no unusual filters
used here. The lighting was so dramatic
that magic happened. (No flash here, either)
